The mission of the Youth Advisory Committee (YAC) is to provide a teenaged perspective on various issues to the Chief of Police so that the Department can better serve the youth and citizens in the Sacramento community.

- To educate the members of the YAC on current trends, issues, and procedures that are relevant to the police and youth.
- To gather teens from different schools and neighborhoods to develop their leadership skills and have them provide constructive opinions and advice to the Chief of Police to better guide the direction of Department policies and programs.
- For committee members to use their leadership roles and abilities to accomplish a group project to benefit a segment of the community.
